The Project
Ambient-Arti is a two-year educational and cultural project that began in September 2025 and will conclude in July 2027. Its goal is to raise awareness among younger generations about environmental issues by telling the story of the surrounding territory through two different artistic and creative languages: photography and sound art.
The project takes place within the territory of Parco Nord Milano, an agricultural park located between the municipalities of Cormano and Novate Milanese. The park represents a precious oasis of biodiversity, acting as an ecological bridge between the city and the countryside. Through the active involvement of young people, the initiative encourages participants to rediscover the territory through a path that combines art and environmental sustainability.
Supported by Fondazione Cariplo as part of the Clima Creativo call, the initiative is a collaboration between Koinè Cooperativa Sociale, acting as lead partner, Casa Testori as project partner, and the vocational training institution ASLAM in Quarto Oggiaro, which participates by directly involving its students, encouraging them to become active guardians of the territory while strengthening essential transversal skills for their professional and personal futures.
During the first year, which is now coming to an end, the students took part in theoretical training sessions focused on environmental and artistic topics. They then explored Parco della Balossa not through simple guided tours, but through genuine field research. This activity combined the scientific approach of Citizen Science with creative experimentation, collecting visual and sound samples from the territory.
Guided by experts from Koinè and artists Danilo Ligato and Tiziano Doria, the students learned to observe urban biodiversity and gather data, reflecting on how this natural environment can be analyzed, protected, and artistically represented through the languages of sound art and photography.
With Danilo Ligato, the students gained knowledge about the history of sound, from antiquity to Bach, Cage, and contemporary rap music. Later, through the use of a sampler, they recorded, listened to, and analyzed the soundscape that belongs to their everyday reality.
Tiziano Doria, on the other hand, introduced the students to a pinhole photography workshop, with the aim of showing them where photography originates by starting from the principles of optics. The students used a pinhole camera built from recycled materials and created photochemical images on photosensitive paper.
During the second school year, the project will move toward the workshop phase and the creation of a final artistic outcome. The students will have the opportunity to use tools familiar to them, such as smartphones, to transform their environmental discoveries into a collective installation, which will then be publicly presented during the final event organized by Fondazione Cariplo in May 2027.
Organizations Involved
Koinè Cooperativa Sociale Onlus has been active for more than twenty years in the fields of environmental sustainability and personal services. As the lead partner of the project, it coordinates activities and scientific monitoring, promoting ecological awareness among young people through direct experience and environmental analysis, also thanks to its long-standing collaboration with Parco Nord Milano.
Casa Testori oversees the artistic direction of the project and fosters the deep connection between aesthetics and territory, relying on two distinguished professionals who guide the students in reinterpreting the urban landscape:
Tiziano Doria is a photographer graduated from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, with extensive experience in experimental cinematography and teaching. His works have received numerous awards and have been selected at international festivals, from Locarno to Turin.

Danilo Ligato, also a graduate of the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, is an interdisciplinary artist specializing in New Technologies for Art. His background combines lutherie, piano, and cinema, giving rise to a musical research practice that transforms the memory of places into poetic devices.
