PAINTERLY BRAND
Painterly devices for body care
by Bianca Schröder
The Painterly Brand project steps beyond the threshold of the studio to become a shared experience, inviting you to collectively question the nature of a work of art. We invite you to an exercise in crossing boundaries: a day in which the line between the body that wears and painting itself dissolves, transforming everyday dressing into an act of poetic presence.
Why should a painting remain confined to the immobility of a wall? A painting can breathe in the wind, absorb the cold, take the rain, and measure the pace of the person who takes it for a walk. In this workshop, your winter garments—scarves, hats, gloves, jackets—will become the support for a deeply personal visual epiphany.
We ask you to bring with you:
one or more personal garments among: gloves, hats, scarves, or jackets
a photograph or image that is meaningful to you, which you would like to try to recreate using acrylic paint
The workshop unfolds in three phases:
We will analyze the garment you are willing to modify. We will study its structure and the memories it holds, identifying the space where the garment calls for a transformation—the point at which it can be grafted.
Next, we will focus on painting the image you wish to evoke on the pictorial canvas. Whether it is a memory of snow, an abstraction of cold, or a fragment of personal, lived history, the painting will become a wearable repository of personal meaning.
Finally, through the sewing phase, we will fuse the painting with the fabric. A graft, a fusion: the moment in which a painting renounces its static nature to become a semi-mobile identity and begins to walk with you.
Sewing an image onto the body and wearing it also means questioning what is truly worth carrying with us, and it can be fully considered a device for the care of one’s body and soul.
The workshop is open to participants aged 14 to 99, and no previous experience is required.
The workshop is free of charge with limited places, and booking is required at: scoprire@casatestori.it
We have arranged a lunch at our expense for the midday break; those who wish to take part are kindly asked to indicate their participation.
