On Saturday, 21 February at 5:00 pm, Casa Testori will host a literary event dedicated to the imagery of snow in Nordic fairy tales, as part of the project “NEVEr alone”, running until 28 March. In a talk, Bruno Berni in conversation with Greta Martina will recount some of the most beautiful tales from the North published over the years by Iperborea in the series he has curated.

The event revisits the themes explored in the first project room of the exhibition “NEVEr alone.” In fact, “melatonina”(22.11.2025 – 17.01.2026), curated by Greta Martina, presented an installation–performance work by Elena Francalanci, created in collaboration with designer Gaia Nanni Costa, which placed the imagery of Nordic fairy tales at its core. Drawing inspiration from Frau Holle and The Snow Queen, the site-specific intervention investigated sleep as a moment of metamorphosis—an act of trust and, at the same time, of profound submission—linked to winter hibernation and sleepwalking.

Bruno Berni (Rome, 1959) is a senior research fellow at the Italian Institute of Germanic Studies in Rome. He has written on the history of translation and on Danish literature from the eighteenth century to the present day. Since 1987 he has translated over one hundred literary works from Danish, as well as from Swedish, Norwegian, and German. His work has earned him several awards, including the National Translation Prize in Denmark (2009) and in Italy (2012).

The talk is made possible thanks to funding from Fondazione Comunitaria Nord Milano through the call “Che bello essere noi” and is organized in collaboration with Iperborea. Free admission while seats last.
