The guests will join remotely from the United States, and the event will be held in English with no translation.
Ed Panar (Johnstown, PA, 1976) and Gregory Halpern (Buffalo, NY, 1977) will present their latest books, Winter Nights, Walking (Fw:Books / Spaces Corners, 2023) and King, Queen, Knave (MACK, 2025), respectively. Although different in origin and conception, the two works are united by the presence of snow. As stated in the presentation of Panar’s book: “A steady rain of millions of crystalline snowflakes, sculpted one by one, creates a soft, temporary envelope that wraps trees, poles, wires, streets, hills, and houses in fluffy layers. On some of those nights, one senses an even deeper quiet and silence, as if the world itself had been put on ‘mute.’” The Buffalo portrayed by Halpern is also often blanketed in snow—an image of the cycle of the seasons, which in turn becomes a metaphor for the human condition.
