Riccardo Gavazzi, DOMESTIC ANIMALS
We have the P of Puma and the E of Elephant. Two elements of a complex system that makes up Riccardo Gavazzi’s bestial spelling book. They are the extract from his alphabet composed of animals, a quick foray into a wild world made up of large-format paintings. A child’s game that anticipates themes that constitute the artist’s research: metamorphosis, grafting, hybridisation between different realities. The choice of representing the non-human is for Gavazzi an expedient for greater expressive freedom: it is the observer who can attribute symbols and meanings to his violent pictorial trait.
