Casa Testori presents “NEVEr alone”, a multidisciplinary project that brings together history, literature, contemporary art, photography, cinema, and science, with snow as a unifying symbol. The project won the “Olimpiadi della Cultura”(Cultural Olympics) call promoted by Regione Lombardia for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, within the Giochi della Cultura program.
In January 1985, Milan and Italy were struck by an extraordinary snowfall that paralyzed the city for several days. It was a remarkable event to which Giovanni Testori dedicated an editorial in Corriere della Sera on January 17, titled “Blessed Are You, Sister Snow.” For Testori, snow was not to be seen as an annoying obstacle to the city’s daily rhythm, but as a unique opportunity to pause, reconnect with oneself and others, and rediscover the value of shared living and time.
Casa Testori’s project comes exactly forty years after that event, at a moment when Milan is once again preparing to take center stage in the global winter scene—establishing itself in the world’s imagination as the capital of snow, in a completely new yet equally unexpected way.
The “NEVEr alone” program includes a collective exhibition of contemporary art curated by Giacomo Pigliapoco, two project rooms by Greta Martina and Rosita Ronzini, and a focus dedicated to the 1985 snowfall, based on Testori’s article and the slides of the renowned photographer Mario De Biasi. Completing the project are three thematic sections: a photography program directed by Luca Fiore, a film series curated by Daniela Persico, and a section on science and climate change coordinated by Riccardo Castellanza with Valter Maggi for the University of Milano-Bicocca. Together, these diverse expressive languages form a mosaic that invites the public to discover new perspectives and share a common space for reflection and awareness.
The exhibition and the focus at Casa Testori will open on Saturday, November 22, 2025. Between December 2025 and March 2026, alongside the Milano–Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, the program of the three thematic series and events linked to the exhibitions—ranging from performances to workshops—will unfold. The closing event is scheduled for Saturday, March 28, 2026.
