lberto Montorfano, La «dame à la flûte», 2023.

A vision, taken from Testori’s last novel Gli Angeli dello Sterminio (1992), depicting the destruction of the Milan Cathedral and narrated by the “dame à la flûte” to the reporter/author through her divinatory abilities, is the subject of the large charcoal and gold leaf mural created by Montorfano for the exhibition Born in Mac Mahon (2023).

More than a representation of the collapse, it seems that the very imprint of the ruins has been impressed onto the wall.
The presence of the “dame à la flûte” is evoked by the anachronistic sparkle of the gold chalices.

In the background, imagine the roar of the horde, fifty motorcyclists — metamorphoses of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse — ready to carry out “the received order.”
